Stan is an Associate at Chapin Intellectual Property Law, LLC. Stan has over twelve years of experience as a Registered Patent Attorney practicing Patent and Intellectual Property Law. He has successfully drafted and prosecuted patent applications for inventions in a broad array of technology areas including electronics, computer architecture, computer software, semiconductors, and communications, as well as in the chemical arts including semiconductor packaging, plastics, thin films, and block copolymers. He also has experience in drafting infringement opinions, validity opinions, right-to-practice opinions, and licensing agreements.

Stan has significant experience in Intellectual Property Law as both an in-house counsel and at several law firms prior to joining Chapin IP Law. He worked as a Patent Attorney for The Dow Chemical Company from 1992 to 2000 where he worked in technology areas that included thermoplastic films, block copolymers, coatings, polyurethanes, cellulose ethers, antimicrobials, and solvents. After Dow, Stan worked at Schwegman, Lundberg, Woessner, & Kluth, a large patent and IP firm in technology areas that included semiconductor processing and packaging, computer architecture and software, and consumer products. After Schwegman, Stan entered into his own practice and later joined a Boston-area patent firm upon relocating to the New England Area, prior to joining Chapin IP Law. Prior to entering the legal profession, Stan worked as a Member of Technical Staff for Texas Instruments where he worked in technology areas that included simulation software, software tools to aid the design and development of a tagged RISC architecture, runtime support for the SCHEME programming language, inter-machine process communication software, Neural Networks, and Case-Based Reasoning. His broad based experience includes fluency in computers, software, electronics and the chemical arts.

Stan is currently a member of the Bar in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the State of Michigan. Stan is also admitted to practice as a Patent Attorney before the United States Patent and Trademark Office as well as the Federal District Courts for both the Eastern and Western Districts of Michigan.
